By targeting a customer segment deliberately overlooked by market leaders, the absolute beginner, Decathlon opens up a blue ocean.
Recessing a volume on the deck yielded two major gains: lowering the center of gravity for improved stability and keeping the chest in paddling position with minimal effort. The challenge was then to integrate these improvements into a design that meets cultural aspirations.
